Terms of Use

Effective September 19, 2026 · Last updated September 26, 2026

Linelace is an iOS application published by Linelace LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company ("Linelace," "we," "us"). These Terms of Use govern your use of the Linelace app and of linelace.com.

By downloading, subscribing to, or using Linelace, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree to them, do not use the app.

Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and how we handle it. It is part of these terms by reference.

2. Linelace is not medical care

Please read this section. It is the most important one in this document.

Linelace is designed for adults with racing thoughts and busy days, including adults with ADHD. It is a productivity and organization tool, and nothing more than that.

Linelace is not a medical device. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, mitigate, or prevent ADHD or any other condition. It is not therapy, not clinical care, and not a substitute for either. Nothing in the app, on our website, or in our marketing is medical advice, and no part of it should be relied on as such.

Using Linelace creates no clinician-patient relationship of any kind. We are not qualified to advise you on your health and we do not attempt to. If you are deciding anything about diagnosis, medication, or treatment, that conversation belongs with a licensed professional, not with an app.

We designed the app around the way a racing, scattered mind actually feels to live with, ADHD included, with a streak system deliberately built not to punish you for a missed day. That is a design philosophy. It is not a clinical claim, and it has not been clinically validated.

3. Who may use Linelace

Linelace is intended for adults and is rated 17+. You must be at least 17 years old to use it, and old enough in your jurisdiction to enter into a binding agreement. If you are not, do not use the app.

4. Your account

Linelace requires Sign in with Apple. You do not create a password with us, and we do not operate one — your account is reached through your Apple account, and keeping that account secure is your responsibility.

One person, one account. Do not share your account with anyone else or let anyone else use it as though it were theirs.

5. Subscription, billing, and cancellation

Linelace is a paid subscription. There is one tier, with everything included, at $7.99 per month or $49.99 per year, following a 7-day free trial. There is no advertising and no permanently free tier.

Apple handles the money, not us. Payment is processed by Apple through your App Store account. We never see or hold your payment card details.

The subscription renews automatically. It continues until you cancel it. Your App Store account is charged for the next period within 24 hours before the current period ends, at the price then in effect. If you do not cancel your free trial at least 24 hours before it ends, it converts into a paid subscription and you are charged.

How to cancel. Cancel in your Apple account settings, under Subscriptions — not in the Linelace app, because we cannot cancel it for you. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for; you keep access until then.

Refunds are Apple's to give. All App Store purchases are refunded, or not, by Apple under Apple's own policies. We cannot issue a refund for an App Store purchase, and we do not control the outcome of a request you make to Apple.

Price changes. If we change the price, the new price applies to renewals after we tell you about it. Apple will ask you to consent before charging you a higher price, and you can cancel instead.

Deleting your Linelace account does not cancel your subscription. These are two separate things in two separate places. Cancel with Apple.

6. What you create stays yours

The thoughts, tasks, notes, and photographs you put into Linelace are yours. We do not claim ownership of them.

You give us only the permission we need to run the service for you: to store your content, sync it to your devices, display it back to you, and back it up. That permission exists so the app can function, it extends no further, and it ends when you delete the content or your account.

We do not train machine learning models on your content, and we do not sell it, license it, or share it with anyone for their own purposes.

The app itself — the software, the Linelace name, the logo, the design, and the written material — belongs to us. These terms let you use the app; they do not give you any ownership of it.

7. What you agree not to do

Do not reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the app, except where the law says you may regardless of what a contract says. Do not resell, sublicense, or redistribute access to Linelace. Do not attempt to breach or circumvent our security, access another user's data, or interfere with the service for anyone else. Do not use Linelace to store or transmit anything unlawful, or anything you have no right to hold.

Do not upload photographs of other people who have not agreed to it, where that would be unlawful where you are.

8. Availability, and the fact that we are small

We will try to keep Linelace running and to keep your data safe, but we do not promise uninterrupted or error-free service. Features may change, and features may be removed. The app depends on services we do not control, including Apple's and our hosting provider's, and outages there will affect Linelace.

We are a single-member company, not an enterprise with an operations team. We would rather tell you that plainly than imply a service level we cannot staff.

Back up what you cannot afford to lose. The app includes a data export in Settings. We keep backups and we take care, but no service is immune to data loss, and you should not treat Linelace as the only copy of something irreplaceable.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent the law allows, Linelace is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will meet your requirements, that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that defects will be corrected.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties. Where that is the case, the exclusions above apply to you only as far as that jurisdiction permits, and you may have rights that these terms cannot take away.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Linelace LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, or lost opportunities, arising out of or relating to your use of Linelace — whether the claim is framed in contract, negligence, or anything else, and even if we were told such damages were possible.

Our total liability to you for any claim relating to Linelace is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose, or twenty-five US dollars.

As in §9, some jurisdictions do not allow these limits, and where that is so they apply only as far as that jurisdiction permits.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, for fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

11. Ending it

You can stop using Linelace at any time. Cancel the subscription with Apple, and delete your account in Settings if you want the data gone — §9 of the Privacy Policy describes exactly what that removes.

We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms, if we are required to by law, or if we discontinue the app. If we discontinue Linelace entirely, we will give you reasonable notice and an opportunity to export your data before it goes.

Sections 6, 9, 10, 12, and this sentence survive the end of these terms.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of them is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the state and federal courts located in North Carolina.

If you are a consumer, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer-protection law in the place where you live.

13. Apple

You download Linelace through Apple's App Store, and Apple's own terms apply to that. Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to provide support or maintenance for Linelace. Apple is not responsible for the app, for any claim that the app infringes anyone's rights, or for any consumer-protection or product-liability claim about it — those are ours. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

You confirm that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

14. The rest

If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest stays in force and that part is narrowed only as far as necessary.

Our not enforcing something is not a waiver of it.

You may not transfer these terms to anyone else. We may transfer them if the company is sold or reorganized, in which case the buyer takes on our obligations to you.

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and Linelace LLC about the app.

15. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. If a change materially affects your rights or what you are paying for, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect rather than relying on you to notice a revised date. Continuing to use Linelace after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
