Effective October 7, 2026 · Last updated October 7, 2026. Linelace LLC, North Carolina.

1. Introduction

Linelace is an iOS application published by Linelace LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company ("Linelace," "we," "us"). It is distributed through the Apple App Store.

This policy explains what the app collects, why, where it is stored, how long it is kept, and how to have it removed. It applies to the Linelace iOS app and to linelace.com.

We have tried to write this in plain language. Where a section describes something we do not do, we say so explicitly rather than leaving it out.

2. Information we collect

Account identity. Linelace requires Sign in with Apple to create an account. The only thing we receive from Apple is a unique identifier for your account. We do not ask Apple for your name or your email address, so we never receive either. We do not operate a password of our own; authentication is handled entirely by Apple.

Content you create. The thoughts and tasks you enter, the steps you break them into, your focus session history, and your streak state.

Photos you capture. If you capture a thought or task as a photograph, we store that image and a small preview of it. See §8.

Subscription status. Whether you hold an active subscription or trial.

Website (linelace.com). If you join the waitlist, we store the email address you enter, in our Supabase database in the United States. We use it only to tell you when Linelace is available and to send occasional updates about it; we never sell or share it. We keep it until you ask us to remove it, or until the waitlist closes after launch — email support@linelace.com and we will delete it. The site uses no cookies, analytics or advertising trackers. Like any website, the services that deliver it — Netlify, which hosts it, and Google Fonts and jsDelivr, which serve its fonts and one script — receive the standard technical details your browser sends, such as your IP address, in order to deliver them.

What we do not collect. We do not collect your contacts, your location, your device advertising identifier, your browsing activity, or any biometric data. Face ID, where you use it, is handled entirely by your device — the biometric data never leaves it and is never available to us. We do not build advertising or behavioral profiles, and we do not buy data about you from anyone.

3. How we use your information

We use your information only to operate the app you are paying for: storing and syncing what you capture, breaking tasks into steps, running focus sessions, calculating your streak, restoring your account when you sign in on a new device, and managing your subscription.

We do not use your information for advertising. We do not sell or rent it. We do not share it with data brokers. We do not use the content of what you capture to train machine learning models.

4. Service providers

Linelace is built on a small number of third-party services. Each receives only what it needs to do its job.

ProviderWhat it receivesWhy
Apple — Sign in with AppleAccount identifier onlyAuthentication and account recovery
Apple — App Store / StoreKitPayment details, handled by AppleProcessing subscription payments. We never see your payment card.
SupabaseYour content, task and streak data, and your photos; website waitlist email addressesDatabase and file storage, hosted in the United States (us-east-1)
RevenueCatSubscription and entitlement statusDetermining whether your subscription is active
Netlify, Google Fonts, jsDelivrStandard web request data, such as your IP addressHosting and delivering linelace.com (the website only, not the app)

We use no advertising SDKs, no analytics SDKs, no Meta or Google tracking SDKs, and no attribution or crash-reporting services that profile users.

5. How your information is stored and protected

Your data is held in a Supabase Postgres database and, for photos, Supabase Storage, in the United States. It is encrypted in transit using TLS.

Every database table enforces row-level security scoped to your own account identifier, so requests authenticated as you can reach only your rows. Because authentication runs through Sign in with Apple, Linelace never stores a password of yours — there is no password of ours that could be exposed in a breach.

Face ID. Linelace uses Face ID — or, on a device without Face ID, whatever the device itself uses to confirm your identity, such as a passcode — to confirm it is you when you reopen the app, so that someone holding your unlocked phone does not simply have your thoughts in front of them. This is handled entirely by iOS: the app asks your device to confirm your identity and receives back only a yes or a no. Your face data never leaves your device, is never transmitted, and is never available to us. There is no setting to turn this off. It checks each time you return to the app after it has been fully closed out to the background; briefly switching to another app and back does not always trigger it again. If your device has neither Face ID nor Touch ID nor a passcode set up at all, this check cannot run, and the app opens without asking — so that a phone with no security configured on it does not lock you out of your own data. Setting up a passcode or biometrics on your device is what turns this protection on.

No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise. We can tell you accurately what we have built; we cannot guarantee it is beyond compromise.

6. Notifications

Linelace does not currently send notifications, and it does not ask for permission to send them. The app shows no iOS notification prompt at launch, during use, or in Settings.

Linelace does not use remote push notifications. The app is not registered with Apple's push notification service, and nothing is ever sent to your device from a server of ours.

We may add notifications in the future, for example to tell you a focus session finished while you were away. If we do, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect, as described in §14, and you will be able to turn them off at any time in iOS Settings.

7. Subscriptions and payment

Linelace is a paid subscription: $7.99 per month or $49.99 per year, a single tier with everything included, following a 7-day free trial. There is no advertising and no permanently free tier.

Payment is processed by Apple through the App Store. We never receive or store your payment card details. Subscriptions are managed in your Apple account settings, and cancellation is handled there rather than by us. RevenueCat receives your subscription status so the app knows whether your access is active.

8. Photographs

Linelace lets you capture a thought or task as a photograph, because for many people a thought arrives as a scene rather than as words.

Please read this section carefully. Photographs you capture may show the inside of your home, your workspace, your possessions, or other people. This section describes exactly what happens to one.

Location data is removed before the photograph leaves your device. Photographs taken on a phone commonly carry GPS coordinates embedded in the file itself — often the exact spot the picture was taken, which for a photograph taken at home is your home address. Linelace strips that location metadata out on your device, before the image is uploaded and before it is stored anywhere. We never receive it, and it is not present in the file we hold.

The photograph is held on your device briefly first. So that capturing a thought never makes you wait for an upload, the upload runs in the background. That means Linelace writes the image into its own protected storage area on your device and then sends it. The copy on your device is deleted as soon as the upload is confirmed — normally within seconds. If the upload cannot complete, because you are offline or the connection fails, the copy stays in that protected area on your device — not yet in our storage — and Linelace keeps retrying, including the next time you open the app. There is no time limit on that, and we do not delete the photograph or quietly give up on it: it stays until the upload goes through, or until you delete the capture it belongs to.

Where it is stored. Once uploaded, the image is held in a private storage area in the United States, under the same account-scoped access rules as the rest of your data: it sits in a folder belonging to your account, and only requests authenticated as you can reach it. The storage area is not public, and the images are not reachable by an open link.

A small preview is stored with each photograph. So that the app can show thumbnails quickly, it also keeps a small, low-resolution copy of each photograph. The preview is made on your device from the already location-cleaned image, so it carries no location data either. Everything in this section applies to it exactly as it does to the photograph: same storage, same access rules, and it is deleted together with the photograph.

We keep photographs indefinitely. They do not expire on a timer, and there is no automatic deletion. A photograph persists for as long as the capture or task it belongs to persists, and for as long as your account exists. This is deliberate: the image records the state of things when the thought struck, and seeing where you started is part of what the app is for.

A photograph is removed from storage when you delete the capture or task it belongs to, or when you delete your account — see §9 for what account deletion removes. Those are the only two ways it leaves our systems, and both are under your control.

We do not analyze the content of your photographs, run them through image recognition, or use them for any purpose other than showing them back to you inside the app. We do not use them to train machine learning models.

9. Deleting your data

You can delete an individual capture or task from within the app. Doing so removes that item, any steps derived from it, and any photograph attached to it — the image itself and its preview are removed from storage, not merely the record pointing at it.

You can delete your entire account from the app's Settings screen. To confirm it's you, the app asks you to sign in with Apple once more; if you cancel at that point, nothing is deleted. Deletion then removes your captures, tasks, focus session history, streak state, and all stored photographs and their previews, including any photograph still waiting on your device to finish uploading. It is not reversible and we cannot restore the data afterward.

Deleting your account also ends Linelace's access to your Apple sign-in. We ask Apple to revoke it before anything else is removed. Apple may email you to confirm, and Linelace will no longer appear in the Sign in with Apple list in your iPhone settings. If you sign in again later, you begin a new account rather than resuming the old one.

If deletion can't finish, for example because your connection drops, the app tells you, and trying again picks up where it stopped.

Deleting your Linelace account does not cancel your App Store subscription. Subscriptions are managed by Apple: cancel in iPhone Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or with the Manage Subscription button shown when deletion completes. Revoking Linelace's access in your Apple settings does not, on its own, delete the data we hold. Use the in-app deletion to do that.

If you cannot access the app and need your data deleted, contact us at the address in §13 and we will do it.

10. Children

Linelace is intended for adults. It is designed for adults with racing thoughts and busy days, including adults with ADHD, and is rated for users aged 17 and over.

The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it. A parent or guardian who believes their child has provided us information should contact us at the address in §13.

11. Your rights

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you have rights over your personal information, including the right to know what we hold, the right to obtain a copy, the right to correct it, and the right to have it deleted.

In practice, the in-app deletion described in §9 satisfies a deletion request immediately and completely. For anything else — access, a copy, or correction — write to us at the address in §13 and we will respond.

We want to be straightforward about scale: Linelace is a single-member company, not an enterprise with a dedicated privacy team. We honor these rights by hand, promptly, through the contact address below. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.

12. Advertising and tracking

Linelace contains no advertising. We do not track you across other apps or websites, we do not use the iOS advertising identifier, and we therefore do not present an App Tracking Transparency prompt, because there is no tracking to ask permission for.

14. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. If a change materially affects what we collect or how we use it — for example, adding a new service provider or beginning to send notifications — we will say so in the app before the change takes effect rather than relying on you to notice a revised date.
